Modest Monday!

Hello friends!

Welcome to another edition of Modest Monday!

This is something that is very important to me but sometimes I feel like I should be quiet and not so outspoken about the whole "modest" gig....I mean nobody likes a nagger am I right? and maybe I should qualify the "outspoken" part as in having a blog to promote modesty LOL!! I really don't talk too much about it outside of these "walls" other than to my girls which is basically what started the whole thing.

Today, talking/promoting modesty is much like standing on a platform being mobbed and surrounded by placards demanding personal liberty, don't judge me, legalistic, doesn't matter what you look like as long as your heart's right, grace of God, these things don't matter, and so on and so forth...nobody listens, nobody wants to hear and everybody hates you. Basically.

As I pondered a bit on this, I was listening to a message based on Matthew 5:13. The more the Lord lays this on my heart the more scripture He uses to satisfy my soul.

" Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men."

The Lord used this verse to say "hey, I called you to be salt...not pepper. As my child, I called you out from among the world to be different, to "salt" the world and draw others to Christ. Many will tell you that dress doesn't matter, it's not that important....but as you read and study my love letter to you....it is! What I gave you, don't let go! don't lose your savour...don't become good for nothing but to be thrown out...."

I claim to be a Christian....I claim to be His child....

would He claim me? would He count me as one that is called by His name?

There is more to being His child than just being good, loving others and doing good works....

Dress and clothing shows to whom you belong. We, as human beings, can't help but judge by outward appearances...

Does your outward appearance reflect the glory of God? or the glory of yourself?

Are you drawing others to Christ or to the world?

Can others see that you are different (in a good way, not a bad way- whole other topic for a whole other post!)?

That's my desire. God called me to be salt.

In a world of pepper.

I decided to try something a little different and leave myself out of these pics! You're welcome! ;)

This entire outfit was thrifted....I love this blouse, it sorta has an old-fashioned feel about it.

I raided my daughter's closet for the sweater which was originally mine... :)

May the Lord bless you this coming week!

  1. I love how you show that modest doesn't mean not pretty, frumpy or boring--- that modest can be beautiful! I agree with your statements about modesty.

That is a beautiful blouse. Since it is so light-weight and almost see-through looking, I would probably wear a colored camisole under it. I love the camisoles with lace at the bottom, so the lace peeks out at the bottom of the blouse.

I dress very modestly yet often get compliments on my outfits.

This is a subject that needs to be addressed. Thanks for being salt and light!

  3. I had to chuckle about raiding your daughter's closet for something that used to be yours...happens here, too. And I love those earrings!

  4. Thank you very much for your post and comments! Sadly, this is such an ignored Bible passage among Christians. Thank you for encouraging me today.
