The Marriage of Joy and Sorrow

Boy met girl...a glance, a look;
A hidden message carefully disguised
And interpreted by each other's eyes.

She was small...a child of night.
Tomorrow's woes she'd often borrow
Black hair, black eyes; her name was Sorrow.

He was large...a beam of light;
Lived for today, a blonde-haired boy.
Blue eyes, big smile; his name was Joy.

Time passed...a month, a year;
The love they shared it slowly grew.
But what about tomorrow? dear Sorrow knew.

Opposites attract...a scientific fact.
Yet how could one soo dark and sad
Abide with him so bright and glad?

Now or never...the time had come;
So with broken heart and trembling voice
She now revealed to him her choice.

Was this the end?? soo bittersweet.
He silently pleads, with outstretched hand
She turns to leave the way she planned...

But wait...not yet my friends!
A tender Father watching o'er the two
Explained to them His plan so true.

No reason??...hopes flared anew!
"He who's had no sorrow, no joy can truly know."
Upon them these words of wisdom did bestow.
